- 12California's Haylie Davis is a singer/songwriter whose lyrical style is rooted in the gauzy sounds of Laurel Canyon and the classic songwriters of the 1970s. Her solo debut album, Wandering Star, appeared in 2026.
- 13Raised in Northern California and based in Los Angeles, Davis grew up listening to her mother sing around the house, and she became a fan of acts like the Strokes and Arctic Monkeys in her teens before discovering and gravitating toward songwriters such as Gram Parsons and Joni Mitchell. In 2019, she was studying psychology at Chapman University when she dropped out and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career.
- 14While waiting tables to support herself, she teamed up with Will Worden to form Will & Haylie, then put out an eponymous EP under the moniker Lady Apple Tree, a release that included a cover of the Lovin' Spoonful's "Didn't Want to Have to Do It"; it became her most-streamed song to that point. Around this time, she was invited to collaborate with more experienced, stylistically like-minded L.A. musicians including Drugdealer, Sylvie, and Sam Burton. In 2025, she felt it was time to move on from Lady Apple Tree, and she recorded her first material under own name.
- 15Davis tracked her debut album partly at the famed Valentine Recording Studios in Los Angeles and partly at Love Magnet, a studio housed in the Highland Park garage of Ian Doerr (Lana Del Rey, Jon Batiste, Drugdealer).
