- 17Naomi Sharon's ballad-rich catalog is a cosmopolitan mix of progressive R&B, sophisti-pop, adult contemporary, and Afrobeats. The Caribbean-Dutch singer and songwriter came to notice in 2016 as a competitor on the sixth season of The Voice of Holland. Three years later, she released her first independent singles, including "Breeze," a poised slow jam that caught the attention of Drake and led to a contract with his OVO Sound label. Although Sharon, the first woman on the OVO roster, has gone on to collaborate extensively with label associates such as Noah "40" Shebib, Alex Lustig, and Beau Nox -- as heard on the 2023 album Obsidian and the 2025 EP The Only Love We Know -- the whole of her discography has a bold aesthetic throughline.
- 18Born in Rotterdam, Sharon grew up in a household that nurtured her interest in music and supported her developing talents. She attended Amsterdam's Academy of Theatre and Dance and subsequently appeared in stage productions of The Lion King and Dreamgirls. At the age of 20, she successfully auditioned for the sixth season of The Voice of Holland. During the competition, she performed "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and "When You Believe," songs respectively popularized by Aretha Franklin and duet partners Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. In 2019, Sharon issued "The Moon" and "Breeze," and also collaborated with Amsterdam native Full Crate on the garage-rooted dancefloor track "Deeper."
- 19A small batch of additional singles followed before Sharon made her OVO Sound debut in 2023 with the joint release of "Another Life" and "Celestial," respective collaborations with the duo of Beau Nox and Alex Lustig and Noah "40" Shebib" as producers. Amid additional previews of Sharon's first album, she was also featured on "Waiting for You," a single by labelmates Majid Jordan. In October 2023, a month after the release of that collaboration, Sharon issued Obsidian, highlighted by the Afrobeats-laced "Time and Trust" and "Push" (featuring Omah Lay), along with the richly atmospheric ballad "Definition of Love" and the airy "Regardless." A deluxe edition followed in 2024 and contained the singles "Goodbyes (Myrrh)" (with DJ Snake) and "Nothing Sweeter" among its bonus tracks. A six-track EP entitled The Only Love We Know, led by the yearning "Can We Do This Over," landed in May 2025. ~ Andy Kellman
